Metro de Sevilla, sociedad concesionaria de la Junta de Andalucía, will operate uninterruptedly throughout the Fair from the «pescaíto» Monday, May 5, until the end of service on the fireworks Sunday, at 2:00 am on Monday, May 12. The special device planned by the Sevillian subway, attached to the Public Works Agency, involves a 125% increase in its service offer compared to a regular week, due to extended hours and greater availability of offered seats.
As in previous years, Metro de Sevilla also reinforces the service during the days leading up to the start of the Fair, from Friday, May 2, to Sunday 4, improving transport capacity by 56% during peak hours.
During the special Fair service, trains will circulate in single and double composition in a double circulation loop, optimizing transport capacity and allowing users to distribute themselves evenly on the platforms, facilitating and expediting boarding and disembarking of passengers. The frequency of trains passing through each station will be approximately every 10 minutes.
The 24-hour transport service and the proximity of the Plaza de Cuba, Parque Príncipes, and Blas Infante stations to the Fairgrounds make the subway the first choice for many people who choose to travel to the fairground sustainably.
During the special Fair of April 2024, over a million trips (1,076,464 passengers) were recorded on the metro, marking the best figure in the historical series to date, with three record days such as «pescaíto» Saturday, with 134,240 passengers, Fair Sunday, with 160,830 passengers (the day with the highest influx on the metro since its inauguration), and Fair Monday, with 130,647 passengers.
Recommendations
During the special Fair services, there are peak moments of user influx, and to facilitate the journey, Metro de Sevilla reminds passengers of the obligation to fold the baby stroller to travel inside the trains, the priority of using elevators when traveling with elderly people, children, or strollers, and always following the instructions of the metro staff who regulate passenger traffic in the stations to facilitate access and exits from the facilities.
Metro de Sevilla recommends that, during peak times, passengers plan their journey in advance and reload their travel tickets beforehand. For this, users have at their disposal, in addition to vending machines and automatic recharge machines with bank payment at stations, online recharge through the website or the smartphone application.
