The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased in Andalusia by 0.6% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the previous quarter, and by 3.1% year-on-year, according to data released by the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia (IECA). This growth is similar to that recorded in the whole of Spain compared to the previous quarter and three tenths higher than the national average compared to the data from the first quarter of 2024.
These figures double the GDP growth of the EU, both compared to the previous quarter (0.3%) and year-on-year (1.4% in the EU and 1.2% in the Eurozone). Particularly striking is the growth differential of Andalusia compared to economies such as Germany (which has recorded a real GDP decline of -0.2%), France (0.8%), or Italy (0.6%).
The Minister of Economy, Finance, and European Funds and spokesperson for the Andalusian government, Carolina España, has highlighted the «robust economic growth» of Andalusia, stating that the data «demonstrate that the regional economy maintains a very positive dynamic, with significant contributions from key sectors such as agriculture, industry, and professional services.»
In fact, the growth of the Andalusian economy in the first quarter of 2025 confirms the sustained momentum observed in recent quarters. In the previous quarter, Andalusia grew one-tenth more than the whole of Spain (3.3% compared to 3.2%), and it is worth noting that throughout 2024, the Andalusian economy grew by 9.6%, six tenths above the Spanish average (9%).
«These results,» the minister noted, «anticipate a 2025 of consolidation and drive for the Andalusian economy, despite all the difficulties that have been accumulating in the international context and especially within the European Union.»
In this regard, it is worth noting that this growth occurs in a scenario of increasing international uncertainty and generalized deceleration of the main European economies, exacerbated by global trade tensions due to tariffs. This data reflects the adaptability and resilience of the Andalusian productive fabric, considering that the regional economy has managed to maintain its momentum thanks to the good performance of strategic sectors.
The advance of the Andalusian economy at the beginning of 2025 has been led by the significant increase in the production of the agricultural sector (5.9%), manufacturing industry (4.4%), construction (4.3%), and services (3.1%).
It is worth noting that, within the tertiary sector, all branches (except for financial and insurance activities) have experienced positive growth, especially professional activities (6.2%) and artistic, recreational, and other services (5.7%), which have significantly contributed to the overall GDP increase.
The publication of the GDP Advance aims to provide early information on the evolution of the Andalusian economy, using a methodology aligned with the Regional Quarterly Accounting of Andalusia (CRTA). Although based on a smaller set of indicators, this advance allows for a more agile and timely monitoring of the regional economic situation.
