It highlights that this project is «essential» to reduce the «deficit of this type of sports facilities»
CAMAS (SEVILLA), 10 (EUROPA PRESS)
The feasibility study promoted by the City Council of Camas (Seville), governed by the socialist Víctor Ávila, to tender an administrative concession for a company to undertake the construction and operation of a sports complex with a heated indoor pool, a facility that the locality lacks; warns that «the pools of the new sports complex, with a total of 387.5 square meters of water surface, are still not sufficient according to the needs of the population of the municipality», which is 28,705 people according to the municipal register revision dated January 1, 2024.
In particular, this feasibility study, collected by Europa Press, addresses in detail all the multiple variables related to «the concession of work and operation for the new Municipal Indoor Pool of Camas», for a company to undertake the construction of this complex on publicly owned land on Avenida del Deporte, next to the current municipal sports center Pepe Flores; in exchange for receiving «the fees paid by the users, with the successful bidder assuming the demand risk for the operation and management of the sports facilities».
The feasibility study explains that the planned center, a flagship project of the Camas City Council due to the current lack of a heated indoor pool in the locality; will feature a main pool of 25 meters in length, in line with similar facilities in this sector; as well as «a teaching pool, play area, crosstraining space, cafeteria, fitness room, four multipurpose rooms, an outdoor activity area, three paddle tennis courts and auxiliary facilities for both self-use and the rest of the sports complex, storage rooms, and changing rooms».
RESERVE OF LAND FOR AN ATHLETICS TRACK
In addition, as stated in the study, «land is reserved for the future implementation of an athletics track, allowing its functional integration with the projected infrastructure».
One of the aspects addressed in the detailed technical analysis of the project is that, as stated, «it is observed that the pools of the new sports complex, with a total of 387.5 square meters of water surface and a Mediterranean climate, are still not sufficient according to the needs of the population of the municipality, (28,157 inhabitants in the revision of the register of January 1, 2023), with a calculated total of 580.03 square meters of water surface».
AN «ESSENTIAL» FACILITY
«Having obtained a population within the demand area greater than that of the municipality, totaling 47,599 people, it is considered that the installation is essential in reducing the existing deficit in this type of sports facilities,» the study indicates.
«The construction of this new sports facility is also justified by the reference thresholds set by the Director Plan for Sports Facilities and Equipment of Andalusia, where it is stipulated that Camas is a municipality located in a dense urban area, for which there should be an indoor pool for every 22,000 inhabitants. The municipality of Camas exceeds this population and currently does not have any public access indoor pool within its sports infrastructure,» the feasibility study points out.
