The Minister of Culture and Sports, Patricia del Pozo, has reported to the Culture and Sports Committee of the Parliament on the grants for the cultural sector that have been announced or are about to be released in 2025. The amount of these grants is around eleven million euros and will benefit all areas, from dance and theater, to audiovisual production and the creation and conservation of sacred art.
In her speech, Del Pozo highlighted that not only has the amount been increased, but the deadline for the call has been brought forward in many cases. The Minister cited as an example the promotion lines for theater, music, dance and circus that were published on January 2nd – three and a half months earlier than in 2024 – or those for the production of feature films and documentaries, whose deadline opened in December – with an eight-month advance – allowing for processing from the beginning of the year.
«These advances are particularly important in the case of cinema, as Andalusian producers will be able to access additional points in the grants from the Spanish Film Institute and Audiovisual Arts by already having our grants. In fact, it is expected that on March 31st, the ICAA will publish theirs and Andalusia will be the only region with a resolved call before that,» she clarified. With this, «we make it possible for Andalusian companies to opt for extra funding from the Ministry.»
The Minister of Culture pointed out that «this measure is the result of listening and dialogue with the sector and our willingness is to address their demands whenever possible.» In this regard, she mentioned that the increase in grants will be particularly significant for the audiovisual sector with an allocation of 5.2 million euros, which is 2.2 million more than last year.
«As I had the opportunity to explain at the Audiovisual and Digital Content Cluster meeting, we want Andalusian productions not only to succeed, but to do so under optimal conditions, with the necessary resources to enhance their quality and national and international projection,» Del Pozo emphasized.
Likewise, she mentioned new grant programs that are being processed such as the recently announced funding for musical formations, endowed with 300,000 euros, or the promotion of Andalusian fashion for which the regulatory framework is being drafted.
Another area being worked on is the promotion and recovery of sacred art, for which a budget of 2.2 million euros has been committed, representing an increase of almost 700,000 euros compared to 2024. The Minister noted that «these grants have been recently created, as sacred art is also culture with a capital C and we are working to improve the regulatory framework.»
The total amount of all the grants that have been announced or will be published in the coming months is 10.8 million euros. In addition to this, there are other grants awaiting the transfer of funds from the Ministry of Culture, such as those destined for cinemas or cultural projects in non-urban areas.
