The City Council of Seville presents the XLV Flamenco Festival La Fragua, one of the most emblematic events in the city’s flamenco calendar, which this year also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Peña Flamenca La Fragua. The event will take place on July 4th at 10:00 PM at Cortijo de Cuarto, with entry by invitation that can be collected at the Peña itself, from Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 3:00 PM.
The program for this special edition brings together three key figures in the current flamenco scene: Arcángel, Marina Heredia, and Pastora Galván.
The singer from Huelva, Arcángel, honored with the Giraldillo at the Flamenco Biennial of Seville and the Medal of Andalusia, returns to Seville in this unmissable event for the flamenco world accompanied by guitarist Salvador Gutiérrez. His art oscillates between deep roots and musical avant-garde, with an international career that includes stages like Carnegie Hall in New York or the Teatro Real in Madrid.
Also, from Granada comes the renowned Marina Heredia, one of the most acclaimed voices in contemporary flamenco, alongside guitarist José Quevedo García «Bolita». Daughter of singer Jaime «El Parrón», she has been a protagonist in international productions like El Amor Brujo and has garnered awards such as the Giraldillo al Cante, the Premio Andalucía Joven, and the Medal of Honor from the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation.
In dance, the XLV Fragua Festival features Pastora Galván, a Sevillian dancer with international projection, shaped between tradition and scenic experimentation, with guitarist Raúl Jiménez «El Perla». The Sevillian artist has participated in festivals worldwide and worked with big names in flamenco such as Carmen Linares, Antonio Canales, or her brother Israel Galván, who has choreographed some of her shows.
With this program, the festival reaffirms its identity as a meeting point between tradition, artistic excellence, and cultural commitment in an edition dedicated as a tribute to the recently retired guitarist from the Bellavista neighborhood, Niño de Pura.
“Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Peña La Fragua with artists of this caliber is a way to pay tribute to our flamenco artists and to half a century of defense and promotion of flamenco in our neighborhoods,” stated the Culture delegate, Angie Moreno, who also highlighted “the fundamental role that flamenco clubs play in preserving our musical memory and in cultural dynamism in the region.”
Finally, the delegate of the Bellavista-La Palmera District, Álvaro Pimentel, stated that “The Fragua Festival is much more than a cultural event, it is a living expression of the soul of our district, a meeting point between generations, between neighbors and artists, who keep the flame of flamenco alive year after year. Celebrating its 45th edition and the 50th anniversary of Peña La Fragua is a source of pride for all of us who are part of Bellavista.”
“Cortijo de Cuarto once again becomes a stage for art in capital letters, in an environment full of symbolism and history for the neighborhood. From the District, we will continue to firmly support initiatives like this, which contribute to strengthening the cultural fabric and to recognizing flamenco as a hallmark of our city,” concluded Pimentel.
The Fragua Festival thus consolidates itself as an essential reference in the Sevillian and Andalusian flamenco scene, both for its historical trajectory and its constant commitment to quality and roots.
