The Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality, through the Andalusian Women’s Institute (IAM), has announced the grant for this year, in a non-competitive basis, to trade unions for the legal advice and procedural defense service for women in cases of gender-based discrimination in the workplace for this year. This grant has a budget of 300,000 euros. Applications can be submitted from April 17 to May 2.
The call, published in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA), aims to fund projects for the operation of a legal defense service for Andalusian women who suffer any type of gender-based discrimination in the workplace or any contentious area, including administrative, with the purpose of providing information, advice, support, and intervention in defense, including procedural defense, of their rights, as well as the pursuit of real and effective equality between women and men throughout the Andalusian territory.
This service of the Andalusian Women’s Institute addresses discrimination in access to employment, whether in the selection processes or in hiring, in maintaining a job position based on gender, wage discrimination due to differences in pay in categories and professional classifications or bonuses, as well as in promotion and subjective criteria for promotions, or issues related to maternity and the reconciliation of work, family, and personal life (dismissal, modification of substantial working conditions, violation of fundamental rights, reductions in working hours, leaves of absence, or breastfeeding).
Likewise, it also tackles cases of sexual harassment and moral harassment based on gender, the labor rights of victims of gender violence and women in feminized and precarious sectors, and the violation of any other right of women that results in gender-based discrimination in the workplace.
Trade unions regulated by their Organic Law 11/1985 of August 2 on trade union freedom, with a presence throughout Andalusia, as well as non-profit entities linked and 100% owned by trade unions through which the legal advice and defense of female workers is provided, can access these grants.
In the resolution signed by the director of the Andalusian Women’s Institute, Olga Carrión, it is established that the deadline for submitting applications is 15 calendar days from the day following the publication in the BOJA. Therefore, applications can be submitted from April 17 to May 2. The forms available for the application, allegations, acceptance, reformulation, and submission of documents can be obtained and submitted on the Electronic Headquarters of the Andalusian Women’s Institute.
The execution period of this grant will be from the date of the grant resolution until the following 12 months, counted from the day after the signature. Thus, the maximum period for submitting the justification will be three months, starting from the date of completion of the program execution. Additionally, the resolution establishes the advance payment of 50%, at most, of the grant amount, upon signing the grant resolution, and the remaining 50% after justifying program compliance and total expenditure.
