The Velá de Santa Ana in the Triana neighborhood begins this Monday with the welcoming proclamation by singer-songwriter Rafael Almarcha. Each year, the activities revolve around the church of Santa Ana and Betis Street. The program includes concerts, traditional games, sports competitions, and a cultural agenda about Triana, which can be found in detail in the brochures. Every night, Plaza del Altozano will host concerts at 10:00 pm featuring groups like Siempre Así, Las Soles, and Las Carlotas, among others.
Sports competitions will include paddle tennis, indoor soccer, chess, domino tournament, fishing, 7-a-side soccer tournament, and pickleball. The traditional game of cucaña will take place at the Guadalquivir River dock starting at 6:30 pm on designated days. The VIII Night Regatta will be on Wednesday, July 24, at 9:30 pm.
Security and Mobility
Since last Thursday, the Police and Firefighters have been on-site to oversee the installation of infrastructure for setting up booths and commercial activities. During this setup period, all vehicular traffic on Betis Street (up to Troya Street) and parking (including bicycles) have been strictly prohibited, except for authorized security services, municipal vehicles, and setup and supply vehicles.
Due to the traffic closure for the Velá de Santiago and Santa Ana celebration from July 21 to 26, Tussam’s Line 43 will modify its route through Triana. The maximum operating hours for booths, attractions, and stalls, both recreational and sales, will be from 12:00 pm to 3:00 am (from Monday to Wednesday until 3:00 am, from Thursday to Saturday until 3:30 am, with music ending half an hour earlier to start clearing the area).
LIPASAM Deployment
The special street cleaning and waste collection plan will involve 82 workers, with seven assigned to inspection tasks, and 38 vehicles to cover this major celebration in Sevilla. The event, declared the city’s Main Festival, will host a total of 28 booths. Additionally, cleaning efforts will extend to the surrounding area, including parts of Los Remedios like Asunción, Plaza de Cuba, and República Argentina.
Before the Velá starts, glass and paper recycling containers on Betis Street will be removed to facilitate booth and stage setup. Extra waste collection containers will be installed in the days leading up to the event, totaling 45 units.
