SALTERAS (SEVILLA), 16 (EUROPA PRESS)
The City Council of Salteras (Seville) has approved the construction project of the ‘Las Melgarejas’ Sports Complex in the plenary session this Wednesday, a «first-rate» sports facility that will involve an investment of six million euros and is scheduled to open in 2027.
As detailed by the City Council in a press release, this sports facility will be located next to the ‘Las Melgarejas’ urbanization, currently expanding with the construction of 214 new homes. This complex has been designed to become a «nerve center for sports and active life in the locality.»
The new facilities will offer a complete range of services for the citizens. In this sense, the complex includes a covered pavilion with seating for 400 people, three ‘fitness’ rooms, two outdoor tennis courts, a parking area with capacity for over 30 vehicles, a cafeteria, and an office for the Sports Delegation, adds the local Government.
This initiative is a «direct and determined response» to the over 1,500 monthly users who participate in municipal sports activities. Likewise, the Salteras City Council has emphasized that this initiative is not just an infrastructure project but a «real and firm commitment» to a model of a «healthy, active, and socially cohesive municipality.»
In this regard, the mayor of the municipality, Antonio Valverde, has highlighted that there is a «firm commitment to the physical and mental health of its citizens.» Furthermore, this complex is not just a sports facility; it is a «commitment to collective well-being,» a tool for prevention, coexistence, and the promotion of healthy habits that will have a «direct impact on the quality of life of our neighbors,» the mayor emphasized.
On the other hand, the infrastructure has been designed with sustainability, accessibility, and maximum functionality criteria to ensure inclusive use by people of all ages and conditions. Similarly, the City Council has foreseen that the complex will serve as a base for local and regional championships, as well as school and social activities while energizing «the life of the municipality throughout the year.»
Finally, the City Council has pointed out that this project and different initiatives such as the opening of the Gym Classroom, the market, the funeral home, and the municipal theater «consolidate a balanced urban development model that integrates sports, housing, services, and nature.»
