The Seville City Council has launched a new contract for free professional care services for minors in the family home. The contract, with a budget of 1,232,266.33 euros —208,744.57 from the Junta de Andalucía and 1,023,521.76 from municipal contributions—, has a duration of one year, with the possibility of extension for another year.
With this contract, the municipal government guarantees the continuity of a resource that will employ 55 professionals (1 director, 4 coordinators, and at least 50 monitors) and will offer up to 400 annual hours per family to facilitate work-life balance, education, and personal life, prioritizing single-parent households, victims of gender violence, long-term unemployed individuals, individuals over 45 years old, families with members with disabilities, and women users of Comprehensive Women’s Care Centers.
Thus, the mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, has explained that «continuing this unprecedented measure since our arrival in government places Seville as a reference city in reconciliation policies, demonstrating our commitment to providing time and peace of mind to those who need it most; every hour of care is an opportunity for Seville families to work, study, or attend to other obligations with the certainty that their children are in good hands.»
The service will cater to minors aged between four months and 12 years old from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 100 hours per family per month will be allocated with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 daily hours. «Last year, thanks to this program, we assisted 150 minors, with a budget of 355,377 euros from the Junta de Andalucía; following its success —and to strengthen this service and facilitate reconciliation in many more Seville homes— the investment for this edition has increased by 247%, adding to the Andalusian government grant 1,023,521.76 euros from municipal contributions,» highlighted the mayor.
Applications can be submitted through registration on the City Council’s electronic headquarters or through the Municipal Registries by appointment. All information and application forms are available here.
Programa Sevilla Concilia
This resource is complemented by ‘Concilia Spaces’, the municipal care program for children aged 3 to 16 years, offering didactic workshops that promote the creative and imaginative spirit of children, enabling cooperative work and enjoyment of holiday periods. The program includes educational reinforcement workshops, body expression through play, reading animation, cooperative games, and conflict resolution to enhance learning in personal and social skills, among others.
A program with a budget of 278,861 euros aimed at facilitating reconciliation is distributed among a dozen civic centers and schools throughout the city. These spaces, which will offer activities until August 30th, have the capacity to cater to a total of 696 minors during the months of July and August.
The centers that are part of the ‘Concilia Spaces’ during the summer period in July are: Entreparques Civic Center, Virgen de la Esperanza Special Education Center, Arias Montano Primary School, José Sebastián Bandarán Primary School, Rico Cejudo Primary School, Sindicalistas Soto, Saborido, and Acosta Civic Center, Concepción de Estevarena Primary School, and Maestro José Fuentes Primary School; to which will be added in August: Sor Ángela de la Cruz Primary School, Pablo VI Primary School, Ignacio Sánchez Mejias Primary School, and Juan XIII Primary School.
Applications for Period A (July 1st to August 14th) can already be submitted through registration on the electronic headquarters or through the Municipal Registries by appointment. For Period B (August 18th to 30th), applications can be submitted in the first week of August. All information and application forms are available here.
«With these measures, we continue to take steps to make Seville an ideal city to live in, where families find real support for reconciliation and can attend their jobs with the guarantee that their children are cared for by great professionals. Our commitment to Seville households is a firm and real commitment that goes beyond words and translates into concrete actions,» concluded the mayor.
