The Seville City Council presented the 2025 Corpus Christi poster on Thursday, featuring a historic photograph from the 1950 procession preserved in the Municipal Hemeroteca and taken by the legendary photographer Serrano.
Festivals Delegate, Manuel Alés, stated, "The 2025 Corpus poster, traditionally created by the City Council through the Festivals Department, returns to a photographic format this year, reminiscent of past choices. For this edition, we have selected a photograph from the Municipal Archive, Hemeroteca, and Publications Service of the Seville City Council. The image, captured by Serrano in 1950, exactly 75 years ago, depicts acolytes and Seises children posing in front of the Custodia de Arfe on Avenida de la Constitución, just after the Punta del Diamante."
Alés also announced a new initiative starting next year, where the Corpus Christi poster image will be chosen through a competition organized by the Festivals Department, open to all photographers. He encouraged the city’s talented photographers to participate, highlighting the prize of monetary compensation and having their work featured on the official poster. This decision aims to support photography as an art form and promote visibility for artists in one of Seville’s major festival posters.
Furthermore, Alés shared details about the activities planned for the Corpus Christi celebration, which will run from June 17 to June 19, the main day of the festival. He emphasized the increased presence of decorations, balconies, and altars along the procession route, with a record 16 altars set up this year. Alés expressed gratitude to the participating brotherhoods for their contributions to enhancing this significant city event.
The City Council’s goal has been to elevate the Corpus Christi festival, working alongside organizing committees, artisans, the Council of Brotherhoods and Guilds, the Council of Bands, brotherhoods, associations, and the people of Seville. Alés highlighted the importance of community involvement in enhancing the festival’s grandeur through decorations and special efforts in public and municipal buildings. He also mentioned the traditional altar, storefront, and balcony decoration contest, urging collaboration from all to enrich the Corpus Christi festivities.
Registration for the altar, storefront, and balcony decoration contest closes on Friday, June 13. Additionally, the 2025 Corpus portals are already on display in Plaza de San Francisco, honoring the Beso de Judas brotherhood for the canonical coronation of the Virgin del Rocío and the Esperanza de Triana brotherhood for their upcoming evangelical mission in Polígono Sur.
This year, the portals are uniquely double-sided, marking a first in the festival’s history and demonstrating the strong commitment of the municipal government to celebrate Corpus Christi in style.
