The President of the Andalusian Government, Juanma Moreno, has reiterated the firm commitment of the Andalusian Government to equality between men and women and highlighted the progress that has been made in this area in the last six years. He also emphasized the importance, especially in the days leading up to March 8th, of raising awareness and advocating for real equality and continuing to progress against any form of discrimination.
He pointed out that Andalusia is the second region in Spain where female unemployment has decreased the most since 2018, with a drop of 7.3 points. «We have nearly 70,000 fewer unemployed women than at the end of 2018 and 200,000 more women affiliated with Social Security than in 2018.»
Furthermore, he noted that the gender pay gap has decreased and that there are currently 216,000 self-employed women in Andalusia, a 16.4% increase from 2018, with more than half of the new self-employed individuals in 2024 being women.
Moreno mentioned some measures that support this commitment to equality, such as the approval of the Andalusian Pact for reconciliation and co-responsibility, which includes free two-year-old childcare, as well as measures against gender-based violence, such as the women’s helpline, which has seen a 50% increase in calls since 2018.

On another note, he stated that Andalusia will always advocate for fair funding, denouncing any injustices or privileges that may affect the Andalusian community.
During his intervention at the Andalusian Parliament session, the Andalusian President emphasized that Andalusia does not have a debt problem, but a funding problem, stating, «Andalusia misses out on receiving 1.5 billion euros per year with the current funding system,» and also noting that the request from this community to create a transitional fund until a new model is agreed upon has not been addressed.
He assured that the Andalusian Government has implemented a political ethic in its governance, based on commitment to the people of Andalusia, reflected in the respect and defense of institutions, the promotion of social dialogue, the ability to reach agreements with social and economic stakeholders, pro-growth and employment policies, leading this region in the reduction of unemployment in Spain over the past year in absolute terms, with forty-six consecutive months of year-on-year unemployment decrease, and policies aimed at those most in need of support.
He also highlighted the drive towards ethical commitment to the regeneration of public life in Andalusia, through initiatives such as the Law against fraud and corruption in Andalusia and protection of whistleblowers, the establishment of the Andalusian Office against Fraud and Corruption, or the Anti-Fraud Measures Plan for the management of Recovery and Resilience Mechanism Funds in 2022.

In conclusion, he mentioned the increase in more thorough and ongoing controls in contracting processes, and the enhancement and expansion of information published on the Transparency Portal.
