The Hermandad del Rocío de Sevilla Sur is already on its way to the almonteña village. The pilgrims have started their pilgrimage that will take them to the shrine of the Blanca Paloma from the Parroquia San Juan de Ávila, on Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes street, shortly after 8:00 am, following the traditional mass.
The last of the six rocieras corporations of the capital to leave the city –Castrense, Sevilla-El Salvador, Triana, Macarena, and Cerro del Águila are the other five– will reach the Puente de las Delicias around 11:30 am, through the avenida de la Guardia Civil and the avenida de Moliní. They will be on avenida Juan Pablo II around 1:00 pm and will leave Seville through the Puente de Hierro.
This Thursday, five brotherhoods from the province also begin their journey to the Aldea, including Carrión de los Céspedes, Sanlúcar la Mayor, and Pilas, while on Friday, the brotherhood of Villamanrique de la Condesa will do so. This municipality is a reference point for the rocieros paths and a must-visit for thousands of devotees and pilgrims from almost 70 brotherhoods.
The vast majority of the Simpecado carts, in their greeting to «the first and oldest,» as stated in the title of Villamanrique, will climb the seven steps of the Parroquia de la Magadalena, leaving a unique and emotional sight. Not in vain, this «passing of brotherhoods» is declared ‘Fiesta of Touristic Interest of Andalusia’. In this sense, this Thursday, Olivares, Lebrija, Morón de la Frontera, La Algaba, Palomares del Río, and Aznalcázar will do so.
San Juan de Aznalfarache crosses the streets of the municipality at 11:00 am; followed by Mairena del Aljarafe, Espartinas, and Gelves. Coria del Río enters at noon and La Puebla del Río around 12:45 pm. In the afternoon, Alcalá de Guadaíra is expected to arrive at 4:30 pm, and after this brotherhood, the corporations of Mairena del Alcor, Carmona, Tocina, and Sevilla-La Macarena. El Cerro del Águila will pass at 5:45 pm; followed by Gines, Santiponce, Utrera, Dos Hermanas, Las Cabezas, and Córdoba, which closes the day at 9:00 pm.
On the other hand, the Sevillian municipality of Coria del Río will host around thirty rocieras brotherhoods until the 12th of this month, coming from different Andalusian provinces, crossing the Guadalquivir on the traditional barge. The brotherhood of La Caleta, accompanied by Vélez-Málaga, was the first to do so, on June 1st, and this Thursday has been the last day of crossing, in terms of the outbound journey, with the brotherhood of Puente Genil (Córdoba), which did so around 10:00 am.
The crossing of brotherhoods is not only focused on the river, as all corporations enter the old town of the municipality to make their presentation at the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Estrella.
El Vado de Quema is also another highlighted location for pilgrims and devotees in each pilgrimage. This Thursday, Lebrija, San Juan de Aznalfarache, Espartinas, and Mairena del Aljarafe pass through there, followed by Gelves, La Puebla del Río, Bormujos, Alcalá de Guadaíra, Santiponce, Carmona, Macarena, Gines, Tocina, Mairena del Alcor, El Cerro del Águila, Utrera, Dos Hermanas, Sanlúcar la Mayor, Las Cabezas de San Juan, and Córdoba, which once again closes the day at this other point; this time at 7:00 pm.
