The counselor of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue, and Administrative Simplification, Antonio Sanz, inaugurated together with the mayor of Paterna de Rivera, Andrés Clavijo, a new Punto Vuela in this Cadiz town and highlighted that «in Cadiz, the Puntos Vuela network currently has 38 active and modernized centers (30 in towns and 8 in neighborhoods), 100% following an investment of 2.4 million euros«.
Antonio Sanz recalled that «the total investment in Andalusia for this transformation is 20 million euros in the last phase, already underway and scheduled to finish in 2025.» In total, the investment amounts to 42.5 million euros in a network with over 700 points across Andalusia. «A historic figure,» stated the counselor.
In addition, the counselor took the opportunity during his speech to also mention that «a few months ago we announced the launch of the new Andalusian portal www.puntosvuela.es.» Antonio Sanz explained that «this portal marks a decisive step towards a more advanced and accessible digital experience for all citizens, allowing anyone to easily access all the services offered by Puntos Vuela, both in person and virtually.»
Through puntosvuela.es, users can delve into each center of the network, its activities, schedules, and all available services. This portal becomes a fundamental tool to bring digital transformation to every corner of Andalusia, facilitating access to precise information, personalized resources, and continuous monitoring of the evolution of each Punto Vuela.
Antonio Sanz mentioned that «Andalusia has embarked on an unstoppable digitalization process and centers, like the one we are in today, have become an essential tool for this.» He explained that «if in recent months we have emphasized providing municipalities and rural areas of Andalusia with spaces of this kind to advance in Digital Transformation, today, here in Paterna, we take a step further, as we reinforce the digitalization of small municipalities because we want Andalusia to be 100% digital by 2030.»
The counselor of the Presidency specified that with the Strategy for the Digital Revolution of the Villages 2022-2025, «we are transforming these centers into multifunctional digital hubs.» And he affirmed that «with them, we promote digitalization to ensure equal opportunities for all Andalusians, regardless of where they live, their age, or their income.» With the new spaces and resources, it is expected to serve more than 500,000 users through 320,000 activities in 2024. «Each Punto Vuela is a ‘mini Junta,'» he said.
Antonio Sanz also reviewed the activity of the network in the province of Cadiz. He detailed that during 2024 and the first month of 2025, 8,424 people were registered as new users, and 18,296 people accessed the services of the centers at least once or participated in one or more of the 8,948 activities programmed in the 38 centers. Overall, across all centers in the province, 50,395 user assistance or interactions were provided during 2024 and the first month of 2025.
In the Paterna Punto Vuela, between January 2024 and February 2025, 179 digital training activities with 2,548 participants were organized. Additionally, 965 different individuals requested the center’s services at least once, while 275 people registered as new users during this period. Therefore, Antonio Sanz wanted to highlight the role of local innovation agents, «individuals who assist Punto Vuela users, supporting the learning process and energizing the center’s activities.»
Puntos Vuela incorporate free Wi-Fi service, coworking spaces, workstations for telecommuting (digital nomads), maker zone to test emerging technology (robotics, 3D printing, virtual reality devices, or drones), individual access points to electronic services, and new equipment (digital and multimedia interactive whiteboards, laptops, smartphones, or tablets). Additionally, these points include demonstration areas for digital, health, and financial services.
The counselor emphasized the importance of Puntos Vuela by pointing out that in the Andalusia Digital Law (LADI), whose approval process began a few days ago, «it consolidates them by including them as an essential part of the Assistance Network for Digital Procedures.» And he reported that «we will be the first administration in Spain to have this lifeline, this assistance network, so that no one is left behind, so that filling out an online form is not an obstacle for anyone.»
Antonio Sanz concluded his remarks by thanking the work of the Fernando de los Ríos Consortium and the Andalusian Digital Agency (ADA), which «are making it possible for us to be here today enjoying these cutting-edge facilities.» And he stressed that «digitalization is on its way to becoming the third economic engine of Andalusia alongside agriculture and tourism». He recalled that the Andalusian government has promoted a digital strategy with a horizon of 2027 in which it will invest 1,000 million euros. Of these, ADA has already executed more than half.
The counselor of the Presidency was also accompanied at the inauguration of Punto Vuela by Mercedes Colombo, the Government delegate of the Junta in Cadiz; Juan Luis Cruz, General Director of the Fernando de los Ríos Consortium; María Luisa Peña, councilor of the Paterna City Council; Alfonso Muñoz, provincial coordinator of the Fernando de los Ríos Consortium; and Isabel Millán, dynamizer of this center.
