The program ‘Andalucía Sinfónica’, promoted by the Department of Culture and Sports in collaboration with the Unicaja Foundation, has facilitated the first tour of the four institutional orchestras in Andalusia – the Orquesta de Córdoba, the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, the Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga, and the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla – across the entire community, attracting a total of 6,833 attendees to their 16 concerts.
The cultural program’s balance data reveals that it comprised eight concerts in 2024 and another eight in the first half of this year. The initiative kicked off on September 26 at the Casa Colón auditorium in Huelva with a concert by the Sinfónica de Sevilla (ROSS) and concluded on June 7 at the Palacio de Congresos in Cádiz with a performance by the Orquesta de Córdoba.
This concert in the capital of Cadiz marked the end of the orchestras’ inaugural tour of Andalusia, fulfilling, in the words of Councilor Patricia del Pozo, «one of the commitments of the Andalusian government to bring a program of excellence to all corners of the community. We have responded to an aspiration that arose in the 90s: to bring symphonic music to provinces without institutional orchestras.»
Councilor Del Pozo also highlighted the success of the program, which extended to all eight provinces, emphasizing the collaboration between the private and public sectors in promoting cultural interest across the entire Andalusian territory. She expressed gratitude for the support of the Fundación Unicaja.
During the 2024/2025 tour, notable audience turnout was seen at the concert by the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada in Huelva on January 11, which attracted 820 attendees. Following closely in terms of audience numbers were the concerts by the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada at the Auditorio Maestro Padilla in Almería with 777 attendees, and the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla at the Teatro Villamarta in Jerez with 689 attendees.
In this first edition of the ‘Andalucía Sinfónica’ program, concerts took place at various venues including the Maestro Padilla auditorium in Almería, the Casa Colón auditorium in Huelva, the Teatro Infanta Leonor in Jaén, the Palacio de Congresos in Cádiz, the Teatro Villamarta in Jerez, and the patio of the ancient University in Baeza.
