The City Council is going to strengthen its current Registration Service with the aim of ensuring that no one in Seville remains unregistered and making it easy for citizens to carry out registration procedures comfortably, without having to leave their homes or workplaces.
The delegate for Finance, Administration, and Digital Transformation, Juan Bueno, has stated that «the improvement of this service, along with the construction of 15,000 planned houses in the city, 4,600 of which are protected, will help reduce the number of unregistered individuals and allow Seville to surpass 700,000 inhabitants.»
The new contract, with a budget of 546,530 euros, approved at the Local Board meeting last Friday, «will ensure,» as Bueno explained, «that no one remains unregistered due to physical, digital, or administrative barriers, thanks to a more professional, fair, efficient, and accessible service with extended hours, bringing the administration closer to those who need it most and, at the same time, addressing the current gap between actual population and registered population.»
The Digital Registration Service is specially designed for elderly or mobility-impaired individuals, those in the community lacking digital resources or knowledge for online procedures, newly arrived immigrants unfamiliar with administrative processes, to facilitate work-life balance, or for families in vulnerable neighborhoods or facing economic or cultural challenges.
The service, which will have a specialized team, will visit the applicant’s residence to handle registrations, address changes, and data modifications on-site, with extended hours of service from Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 8 pm and Fridays from 8 am to 3 pm, with the possibility of weekend assistance if necessary.
Advantages
Being registered brings a range of benefits such as access to healthcare, education, and social services, applying for municipal aid or scholarships, enrolling children in educational institutions, or obtaining discounts on transportation, activities, or taxes.
Furthermore, it allows the City Council to plan more effectively, allocate resources where needed, and officially surpass the 700,000 inhabitants mark, which would result in increased funding from the State for the city.
