The Seville City Council, through the Tourism and Culture Area, presents two high-level stage productions that will take place during the months of May and June at the Real Fábrica de Artillería, reaffirming its commitment to contemporary creation and the enhancement of the city’s living heritage.
From May 15th to 18th, In Perpetuum, a creation by Manuela Nogales Danza in collaboration with the Baroque Orchestra of Seville, will take place. The proposal merges contemporary dance, baroque music, and plastic art in a sensory experience directed by the renowned Sevillian choreographer Manuela Nogales, under the musical direction of Ventura Rico. «This piece is a celebration of Seville’s artistic sensibility, where past and present coexist with exceptional expressive power. From the City Council, we decisively support these proposals that arise from excellence and roots,» highlighted Angie Moreno, delegate of Tourism and Culture.
On June 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, and 19 at 10:00 p.m., Macbeth, the new production of the Classic Theater of Seville with adaptation and direction by Alfonso Zurro, will premiere. This version of Shakespeare’s classic celebrates the 20th anniversary of the company directed by Juan Motilla. A dark and visceral journey into ambition and madness, with set design by Curt Allen Wilmer and Leticia Gañán, music by Alejandro Cruz Benavides, and a powerful cast of Andalusian performers.
«With this program, we continue to consolidate Artillería as one of Seville’s great cultural spaces, open to contemporary stage creation and the reinterpretation of classics,» added Moreno. «We want this emblematic space to also be a meeting place between artists and citizens, where theater, dance, and music are vehicles of emotion and thought.»
The delegate also pointed out that «these shows symbolize a Seville that looks to the future without forgetting its roots. We support companies that dialogue with tradition from a contemporary language and occupy spaces like Artillería to turn them into vibrant centers of artistic creation and reflection.»
About In Perpetuum, Moreno emphasized that «this show represents the delicate alchemy between body, sound, and light, a true ode to emotion and transcendence. It is an honor to have artists like Manuela Nogales and the musical accompaniment of the Baroque Orchestra of Seville, placing our city on the map of international stage avant-garde.»
Regarding Macbeth, the delegate stated: «The work of the Classic Theater of Seville is synonymous with rigor, innovation, and commitment to excellence. This new adaptation by Alfonso Zurro is a profoundly innovative and current proposal that invites us to descend into the shadows of the human soul from a staging of enormous visual power.»
Both proposals are part of the cultural calendar promoted by the Seville City Council, through the Tourism and Culture Area, to energize the use of the Real Fábrica de Artillería as a space for live arts, contributing to the decentralization of the stage offering and the connection of industrial heritage with citizens. «This type of programming is key to strengthening our cultural identity, generating creative employment, and attracting both local and cultural visitors,» concluded Moreno.
Tickets for both shows are already on sale at In Perpetuum with a general price of 20 euros. Macbeth is priced at 18 euros, with special discounts for various groups, including young people, drama students, people with disabilities, and those over 65 years old.
