
The Seville City Council will implement a special security, mobility, and cleaning device for the Copa del Rey final, to be played between F.C. Barcelona and Real Madrid at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday, the 26th.
For this purpose, the City Council is carrying out all the necessary actions to have a top-notch stadium with a first-class environment and access. Improvement works have been carried out resulting in a safe access, with firm asphalt achieving a stable and leveled pavement, avoiding pedestrian transit through arid land, in addition to being well signposted and illuminated.
In addition, the following actions have been taken in preparation for the Saturday match:
– Reinforcement of the perimeter roads of the venue and the main access road to the South tunnel.
– Improvement of pedestrian accessibility.
– Public lighting. Enhancement with projectors in the main access areas to the venue.
– Improvement of horizontal and vertical signaling on the perimeter roads leading to the stadium.
– Improvement of signaling for shuttle loading and unloading points.
– Inspection and improvement measures for the image and safety of the construction sites near the stadium.
– Clearing and perimeter cleaning.
– Provision of furniture, protection, and security elements in compliance with the measures determined by the security forces.
Security and Mobility
From a security standpoint, until Thursday, April 24th, meetings will be held to work on coordination between all security forces and bodies that will be involved in this extensive operation. Specifically, the Local Police will allocate a total of 230 officers to this event, who will mainly carry out traffic control, monitor street vendors, and oversee leisure activities, both in the areas where fans gather and in central areas such as Plaza Nueva, Plaza de San Francisco, Plaza del Triunfo, Plaza Virgen de los Reyes, Mateos Gago, Plaza de España, among others.
The traffic operation in the city will have an initial phase starting on the night of Friday, April 25th, affecting the stadium perimeter to organize parking and evacuation routes, as well as control street vending. Traffic restrictions around La Cartuja will be adjusted based on crowd density starting at 7:00 am, with a complete closure of the Technological Park of La Cartuja and Carlos III Avenue at 3:00 pm, until all access points are completely restricted by 7:00 pm.
Furthermore, police presence will be reinforced both at Santa Justa and the Airport to ensure security and mobility upon the arrival of fans, expected on Saturday from 7:00 am.
The City Council has approved the meeting points for both sets of fans in the areas proposed by the clubs and the Spanish Football Federation, who are responsible for them. Specifically, both will be active from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
The Seville City Council, in coordination with all state security areas and forces, has implemented a perfectly planned and organized operation that will be able to adapt to the needs of the event.
On the other hand, the Fire Department will have a unit at the Command Post and a crew with a vehicle on the field.
In addition, the municipal operation will include 50 Civil Protection volunteers who will reinforce and support public services outside the stadium and security and medical services inside the stadium.
Tussam will enhance and extend the operating hours of lines C1, C2, and 2, which serve the stadium.
These lines, stopping at Américo Vespucio Street in front of the stadium, have circular and transversal routes that allow direct access to the stadium from areas such as Barqueta, Macarena, Ronda Histórica, Puerta Osario, Santa Justa, Los Arcos, Nervión, San Bernardo, Prado de San Sebastián, Los Remedios, and Triana.
In addition to their usual service, these lines will have 22 articulated reinforcement vehicles, joining the service at approximately 6:00 pm, four hours before the start of the match, and will remain in service until the end of the match. After the match, attendees will have access to these vehicles at stops to facilitate their use.
Furthermore, the Airport Special line (EA), connecting with lines C1 and C2 at Santa Justa and Prado de San Sebastián, and with line 2 at Alcalde Manuel del Valle with Kansas City, will also be reinforced due to the expected increase in demand to the Seville airport.
Lipasam will carry out a special cleaning operation to effectively address the significant increase in waste produced in the areas where match attendees gather.
This sporting event requires a significant human and mechanical deployment, both in the lead-up, during, and after the match. The operation consists of 320 workers and 103 vehicles working in morning, afternoon, and night shifts from Friday to Sunday.
In total, the operation includes the hiring of 186 additional staff to ensure that the usual cleaning schedule is maintained in all city neighborhoods.
In the surrounding area, sweeping, washing, emptying of trash cans and containers will be carried out to maintain cleanliness around La Cartuja stadium and its surroundings, the departure and transfer of both teams before the match, the downtown area where fans gather, as well as monitoring the fans of the winning team afterward.
Additionally, maintenance and preparation work is being done in the areas near the stadium in the days leading up to the event. These actions primarily consist of clearing, special cleaning, and improving the area.
