
Cartuja Center CITEha has hosted the XXXVIII Gala del Deporte de Sevilla, in which the most relevant sports values and performances of individuals and entities in Sevilla have been awarded through a set of distinctions and recognitions promoted by the Ayuntamiento de Sevilla through the Instituto Municipal de Deportes.
The year 2024 has been a prominent and successful year for various sports categories. In this regard, the mayor of Sevilla, José Luis Sanz, has presented the award for a lifetime dedicated to sports, which has been awarded to Dr. Francisco Gallardo, the emotional Special Mention to two dear people who have recently passed away, Juan Antonio Arenas and Gabi Moise, and special mentions to the three Sevillian women who participated in the World Athletics Championships Sevilla’99, Lissete Ferri, Mari Paz Maqueda, and Julia Alba.
Likewise, the mayor emphasized that «we know the importance of sports for the people of Sevilla and that is why we are committed to improving the city’s sports facilities, without forgetting any district and investing to achieve top-notch facilities, because its athletes are top-notch. Furthermore, Sevilla is the best city in Southern Europe to host major sports events, we are a flagship worldwide, and its athletes are the ones who carry that flag in multiple international competitions.» He also concluded by thanking the sports entities and trainers in Sevilla.
