‘De Este’, a new space dedicated to art, fashion, design, craftsmanship, and culture, has opened its doors this Tuesday in the historic center of Seville. The project takes as its inspiration the figure and legacy of Isabel de Este Gonzaga, a prominent patron of the Renaissance. From there, it reinterprets her Italian studiolo in a contemporary key, combining tradition and avant-garde to offer a renewed vision of luxury, understood as an aesthetic experience.
Maxmara Sevilla’s director, Rosa Guerrero, highlighted in a statement that after more than 25 years in the luxury retail sector, she is proud to present her new space ‘De Este’. She stated that with this new center, she wants to «create a place where the customer is the center, living unforgettable experiences, feelings, and learnings.» «This project values the talent of local artisans and artists by merging their creativity with personalized and exceptional attention,» she added.
«With years of experience in the luxury sector, I bring craftsmanship and outstanding service to the forefront as the authentic foundation of ‘De Este’, to transform the way we experience fashion, art, and retail, where a avant-garde form of culture and consumption converge,» explained the pioneer of this initiative.
The inauguration was attended by the third deputy mayor of the City Council of Seville, Minerva Salas; personal image consultant and founder of El Estilario, Rosa Iglesias; contemporary artist and painter from Seville, Ángela Mena; Eva Pozuelo and Rosario Andrade from the firm Hilando el tiempo and the creative director of Lina, Mila Montero, among others.
‘De Este’ aims to become a creative meeting point for designers, artisans, and artists – both established and emerging – who seek a space to share ideas, inspire, and collaborate. Its main purpose is to promote a dynamic ecosystem that drives fashion, art, and beauty in all its forms, elevating them to their maximum expression.
In this new center, jewelry, fashion, craftsmanship, and any trade that values authenticity and dedication in each piece will coexist. Personalized attention will be the main focus of this space, offering each visitor an individualized experience through appointments that can be requested by phone (645 907 710) or by email info@deeste.es.
50 SCARVES INSPIRED BY A WORK OF ÁNGELA MENA
On the occasion of the inauguration, ‘De Este’ presented this Tuesday a limited edition of 50 large scarves made of natural silk, inspired by the work Vínculos Salvajes of the contemporary artist and painter from Seville, Ángela Mena.
The artist herself has advanced that in this piece, it is «an element that wraps the body and embraces it, linking it with the work, establishing a new dialogue and a different contact with art.» She also highlighted that «its placement inherently carries the gesture of painting to play with color and form,» while emphasizing that «each person will, in their own way, create a type of design, adding their own personality to each one.»
The first brands to present exclusive collections at ‘De Este’ are the Seville-based firm Lina, which has designed two blouses and a jacket; the sustainable fashion brand made with crochet, Hilando el Tiempo, which will exhibit three handmade pieces; and the jewelry brand Coolook, which will present a capsule collection of around 20 pieces.
Isabella de Este (1474-1539) was one of the great figures of the Italian Renaissance and one of the main patrons of art and culture of her time. Admired for her intellect, she supported some of the most influential artists in history, including Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.
Her studiolo, located in the Palazzo Ducale in Mantua (Italy), was a private refuge dedicated to art, reflection, and knowledge. This personal space, a symbol of her passion for culture, housed a collection that ranged from classical antiquities to contemporary works.
