The President of the Junta, Juanma Moreno, has indicated that ceding 100% of taxes to a territory is breaking the principles of equality and solidarity among territories. He emphasized that Andalusia will be closely monitoring the Government of Spain’s concessions to Catalonia, highlighting that Andalusia plays a fundamental role in Spain’s balance, as it did in 1980 when it demanded first-class autonomy, balance, and equality.
He asserted that a Prime Minister must unite his country and also promote progress and well-being, calling the current situation grave. He explained that it «gradually dissolves territorial cohesion, making decisions that cannot be reversed and affect all Spaniards, doing so without knowledge, information, prior debates, and with pacts that do not lead to the best decision.»
«The Prime Minister has the obligation to protect the general interest and not make his own weakness the weakness of an entire nation. If that happens, Andalusia offers itself to other territories to lead and spearhead the defense of equality. Together and wherever necessary because playing with equality is playing with the future of Andalusians and Spaniards,» he added.
Moreno, who participated in the presentation of the 2025 Joly Yearbook in Seville, defended the ‘Andalusian way’ based on moderation, political stability, legal security, dialogue, respect, consensus, and acting in accordance with the principles and values that give meaning to our society. «The Andalusian recipe is no mystery; it is about serving society and staying away from extremism.»
He emphasized the importance of having a roadmap based on the trust generated by stability, something that happens in Andalusia and, as he stated, «we must not jeopardize.» He stated his belief in realistic policies with narratives backed by data, offering citizens achievable solutions, advancing in various fields and attempting to address everything possible without creating frustrations. «It is essential to keep populism away from institutions and respect them by promoting credibility in objectives. We must avoid noise, confrontation, and polarization because the wall that separates leaves a mark and a debt that future generations will pay.»
The event was attended by Antonio Sanz, Councilor of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue, and Administrative Simplification; Patricia del Pozo, Councilor of Educational Development and Vocational Training; Jorge Paradela, Councilor of Industry, Energy, and Mines; and José Antonio Nieto, Councilor of Justice, Local Administration, and Public Function.
