The Seville City Council, through the Urban Planning and Environment Management, will carry out resurfacing works on Avenida de la Palmera and Paseo de las Delicias starting next Sunday, June 8th, with an investment of 727,093.99 euros. The pavement renewal on these roads, scheduled to be completed by June 19th, will take place in the section between Glorieta de los Marineros and Avenida de Moliní on Paseo de las Delicias; and from the extension of this, through Avenida de la Palmera, to Calle Páez de Rivera.
Regarding these improvement works, Urban Planning delegate Juan de la Rosa emphasized that «this is a much-needed intervention as we are talking about some of the main roads in the city that daily bear a heavy traffic load and have not been intervened in for over a decade.»
In these works, as highlighted by the councilor, «a new pavement will be applied, in both road sections, with highly performing mixtures that, in addition to improving their structural and surface conditions, will also reduce the noise generated by road traffic.»
In the specific case of Paseo de las Delicias, special reinforcement will be applied to the right lane where a greater pavement deterioration has been detected due to the continuous passage of heavy vehicles and the effect of rainwater seeping through the cracks in the roadway.
Since May 2023, with José Luis Sanz taking office as mayor, the City Council has already carried out over 140 resurfacing interventions in various neighborhoods of the city with an investment exceeding 8.6 million euros.
The resurfacing of Paseo de las Delicias and Avenida de la Palmera is one of the interventions announced by Sanz’s team on five of the city’s major avenues worth 1.5 million euros, including the repaving of Avenida de Francia and a section of Avenida del Pilar in the Bellavista-La Palmera District; and Calle Virgen de Luján in Los Remedios, both already completed. The pending intervention is on Avenida Alcalde Manuel del Valle, between the North and Macarena districts.
Regarding the resurfacing interventions, De la Rosa reiterated that «this Government team remains committed to improving the roads of Seville to address pavement deterioration, mainly caused by the passage of time and traffic flow, and provide them with quality asphalt to make them safer for vehicles and their drivers.»
