The Seville City Council, through the Urban Planning and Environment Management, will begin asphalt works on Avenida Ciudad de Chiva starting next Sunday, May 11, thus fixing the main artery of the Alcosa neighborhood.
In this regard, Juan De la Rosa, Urbanism delegate, pointed out that «this is an action that is part of the numerous asphalt improvement works that we are carrying out in all districts from the government team of José Luís Sanz to prepare our city and provide Sevillians with safe roads for traffic and pedestrians.»
The resurfacing of Avenida Ciudad de Chiva, with an investment of 180,000 euros, includes complete milling of the road surface on said avenue, from the section between Ciudad de Liria street and Emilia Barral street. This action includes reinforcement in the most deteriorated road area and subsequent painting of the horizontal signage on it.
Due to the resurfacing on this section of Ciudad de Chiva, the avenue will be closed to traffic from next Sunday, May 11, until Saturday 17, during the night hours from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am. While the improvement works are being carried out, alternative routes must be taken through Ontur street and ONG street. «Improving the asphalt throughout the city was one of the commitments that the Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, made during the campaign, and we are fulfilling it rigorously from this team. We committed to solving the severe problems that Seville’s asphalt had, and that’s exactly what we are doing,» added the councilor.
Other improvement works in Alcosa
In Alcosa, improvement works are also being carried out in the children’s park located between Ontur street and Jesús del Divino Perdón street. In this space – about 1430 m² – six new inclusive and interactive games will be installed to replace the outdated ones and will be placed on a new layer of artificial grass covered by a new fence, thus expanding the possibilities of play. These improvements, with a total investment of 216,800 €, will also include paving works on the areas that are currently dirt, new furniture such as benches and recycling bins, as well as new tree planting, along with a 16×11-meter awning, ensuring shade in the area. This action is added to the already known 1st Phase of the rehabilitation project of the Ontur Sports Center for 400,000 euros, a facility completely abandoned for years that this new government has set out to rehabilitate. Throughout 2025, other improvement works will also be carried out, including the reurbanization of one area of Plaza Azahin for 50,000 euros, and Carmen Conde street, in addition to the already improved Plaza Juan García Reyes for 20,000 euros.
